Calling all women+ changemakers! Apply for the QW+ Woman+ Voices 24/25 South African Fellowship

Our brand-new programme is looking for a group of changemakers from rural and low-income communities.

If so, then you should apply for the Quote This Woman+ Voices 24/25 Fellowship.
What is the Voices 24/25 Fellowship?
It’s a six-month funded programme to equip a cohort of committed women and other marginalised people with the confidence and skills they need to speak up – and be listened to – about things that matter for social justice. The fellowship will focus on building feminist agency and will provide participants with practical training in media engagement and advocacy.
Who is the fellowship for?
This fellowship is for you if you are a woman or otherwise marginalised person (women+) who is:
- A civic leader, activist or change-agent.
- Living in a rural, low-income, or otherwise marginalised community in South Africa.
- Deeply committed to creating a more just and equitable world.
We especially encourage applications from women+ who are underrepresented in the media, including women+ living with disabilities and LGBTQI+ community members.
What does the fellowship involve?
Fellowship participants will receive training in a variety of areas, including:
- Media training (including how to conduct radio/podcast/TV interviews; how to engage with online and print media).
- Public speaking.
- Conflict management.
- Networking skills.
- Personal branding.
- Social media.
Participants will also have the opportunity to:
- Create mini advocacy projects.
- Receive personalised coaching/mentorship and to participate in peer mentorship.
- Gain media exposure and expand their professional networks.
- Connect with other women+ leaders and build a community of support.
When and where will the fellowship take place?
The fellowship will run from December 2024 to June 2025. The fellowship training will be delivered online, and run asynchronously, with modules released twice a month, and assignments to be handed in. .
What is the eligibility criteria for the fellowship?
To be eligible for the fellowship you must:
- Identify as a woman+.
- Be a resident of South Africa.
- Have existing digital competency and be able to access the training materials and participate in the course online.
- Be proficient in English.
- Be committed to working towards gender equality and social justice.
- Be interested in using your voice to challenge entrenched narratives and create positive change.
- Be able to set aside 6-8 hours a month (flexi-time) to participate in the learning programme.
