Call for 2026 Volunteer Interns at Quote This Woman+

Are you ready to step into the media industry, sharpen your skills, and help shift who gets to speak in African news?

Quote This Woman+ (QW+) is looking for the right people to join us as volunteer interns in 2026.

We’re offering 6-month and 12-month internships where you’ll gain critical work experience while contributing to our mission: amplifying the voices of women+ and other marginalised experts in African media.

Who we’re looking for

We need women+ who are intersectional feminists and who bring:

Beautiful writing.
Fearless thinking
People skills: we need you to be confident reaching out to strangers, making calls, or sending WhatsApps: even to people you don’t know yet
The ability to use AI tools cleverly (to save time) and responsibly (in line with QW+’s evolving AI policy, and using prompts that challenge bias).
A safe pair of hands, even under pressure.
Social media savvy

What you’ll do

You’ll choose your top 3 preferences from the areas below. Training and support will be provided.

Database growth & curation – helping us find new women+ experts for our database. Provide behind-scenes support in fact-checking and copy-editing experts’ profiles.
Social media – developing and running campaigns that amplify women+ expert voices for journalists and policy-makers.
Newsletters & written communications – helping draft, edit and publish our news flashes, for journalists, and our newsletters, for our database community.
Media Training and Online events – A_Z of event creation: online and in person
Monitoring & Evaluation – tracking and analysing QW+’s impact for our funders and community.

Please complete our application form by no later than Wednesday, 13 November 2025. But apply soon: we’ll take applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

And: you might think we won’t, but we WILL know if you used AI to write your cover letter.

We have no interest in hearing what Gemini or ChatGPT think you ought to say in a covering letter. We want to get to know the real humans we’ll be bringing into our team.

You’ll need:

A short cover letter telling us what makes you interesting as a person, and why you’d like to work with us..
A short CV of your skills and experience.
Two references (academic or professional).
To indicate whether you’re applying for a 6-month or 12-month internship.
