QW+ is calling on committed, values-driven feminist leaders from across the African continent to join our Board and help guide the next chapter of our work.
About Quote This Woman+ Why Join the QW+ Board?
Quote This Woman+ (QW+) is a feminist, pan-African media non-profit working to shift who gets heard in the news. We support journalists to find women+ experts across Africa and strengthen public-interest storytelling that reflects the realities of diverse African communities. We operate across multiple funders and countries, with complex reporting duties and delivery timelines. Strong internal systems are essential for our work.
Why Join the QW+ Board?
Board members play a critical role in shaping QW+’s strategic direction, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that our work remains rooted in feminist ethics, lived realities, and collective leadership.
As a Board Member, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance aligned with QW+’s feminist values
- Support organisational sustainability, governance, and accountability
- Contribute your expertise, networks, and lived experience to strengthen our impact
- Engage in critical reflection and collective decision-making
- Help ensure that QW+ remains responsive to the communities we serve
Who We Are Looking For
We encourage applications from intersectional African feminists who understand how systems of power such as patriarchy, racism, colonialism, capitalism, ableism, and heteronormativity intersect.
with experience or knowledge in areas such as:
- Finance, fundraising, and organisational sustainability
- Feminist organising and movement building
- Gender justice, LGBTQI+ rights, and intersectional advocacy
- Media, communications, and narrative change
- Law, policy, and governance
- Research, monitoring and evaluation
- Community-led development and grassroots organising
Our Commitment to Intersectionality
At QW+, we actively work to dismantle exclusionary systems and ensure that our leadership reflects the diversity of our communities. We encourage applications from Black women, queer and trans people, persons with disabilities, migrants, young feminists, and those working at the margins of formal power.
Practical Details
- This is a voluntary Board position and as such is unpaid.
- Board Members serve a fixed term and meet periodically (virtually)
- Applicants must be based in Africa or have strong links to African feminist movements
